Construction jobs abroad for Pakistani workers

Skilled and general construction workers are the largest group of Pakistani workers abroad. Here is what employers expect and how to go legally.

Roles we recruit for

  • Masons, block layers and plasterers
  • Steel fixers and shuttering carpenters
  • Electricians and plumbers
  • Welders and pipe fitters
  • Tile setters, painters and general helpers

What employers usually check

  • A practical trade test, held by the employer or at an approved centre. For Saudi Arabia, many skilled construction professions need the skill verification test.
  • Experience letters and, for electricians and plumbers, a training certificate (for example from a TEVTA or NAVTTC institute).
  • Medical fitness: a GCC-approved medical for Gulf countries.

Where these jobs are

Construction demand is strongest in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait and Bahrain. There are also openings in Malaysia and Turkey when those countries open intakes, and through Japan's SSW construction field for candidates who pass the tests.

How the legal route works

  1. A foreign employer sends a demand letter and power of attorney to a licensed promoter, and these are attested and approved in Pakistan.
  2. Shortlisting, interviews and any trade or skill test the employer or destination country requires.
  3. A medical examination (a GCC-approved GAMCA medical for Gulf countries), then visa processing.
  4. Registration with the Protector of Emigrants (BEOE): contract check, government dues, and a pre-departure briefing.
  5. Travel. The employer completes your residence and work permit formalities after arrival.

Fees, receipts and your passport

Under Pakistan's emigration rules, a licensed Overseas Employment Promoter (OEP) may charge a worker a service charge of no more than Rs 15,000, and must give you a receipt for it. Government dues (the BEOE emigration fee, the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation welfare fund and State Life insurance) are separate. They are paid into official accounts, and the Protector of Emigrants office will show you what each one is for.

Two rules worth remembering. No agent, including us, should ask you for more than the legal service charge or for cash with no receipt. And no agent should keep your passport. It's needed only for visa stamping and protector registration, and it should come back to you.

Before you pay anyone, check their licence number on the BEOE register of licensed OEPs. Our licence is OP&HRD/5245/RWP/2026. You can check it the same way.

Frequently asked questions

Do helpers and labourers need a trade test?

Unskilled roles usually don't need a formal trade test, but employers may still check fitness and basic ability.

Will the employer provide accommodation?

Many Gulf construction contracts include accommodation and transport, but it varies. It must be written in your contract, so read it before you sign.

Registration is free. Leave your details once and we'll contact you when a matching position is confirmed. We don't publish roles we can't back with an employer demand letter.
