Jobs in Bahrain for Pakistani workers

Bahrain is a smaller market than Saudi Arabia or Qatar, but it hires steadily in construction, services and healthcare. Here is how the legal route works.

In Bahrain, work permits for foreign workers are issued by the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA) at the employer's request. A genuine job offer is backed by that permit and a demand letter sent to a licensed Pakistani promoter.

Trades in demand in Bahrain

Demand varies over time. These are the kinds of roles employers in Bahrain commonly recruit Pakistani workers for:

  • Construction trades: masons, carpenters, steel fixers, electricians, plumbers
  • Drivers and heavy equipment operators
  • Hotel, restaurant and retail staff
  • Cleaning, security and facility staff
  • Nurses and allied health staff (with Bahrain health-regulator licensing)
  • Technicians and engineers

The legal process, step by step

  1. The Bahraini employer applies to the LMRA for a work permit and sends a demand letter, which is attested and approved in Pakistan.
  2. Interview and selection.
  3. a GCC-approved medical examination (GAMCA, now booked through the Wafid portal) at an approved medical centre.
  4. The LMRA work permit and entry visa are issued.
  5. Registration with the Protector of Emigrants: contract check, government dues, and a pre-departure briefing.
  6. Travel. Your residence permit and CPR card are completed after arrival.

Exact requirements change from time to time, so always check them against official sources, and against the contract the Protector of Emigrants approves.

Fees, receipts and your passport

Under Pakistan's emigration rules, a licensed Overseas Employment Promoter (OEP) may charge a worker a service charge of no more than Rs 15,000, and must give you a receipt for it. Government dues (the BEOE emigration fee, the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation welfare fund and State Life insurance) are separate. They are paid into official accounts, and the Protector of Emigrants office will show you what each one is for.

Two rules worth remembering. No agent, including us, should ask you for more than the legal service charge or for cash with no receipt. And no agent should keep your passport. It's needed only for visa stamping and protector registration, and it should come back to you.

Before you pay anyone, check their licence number on the BEOE register of licensed OEPs. Our licence is OP&HRD/5245/RWP/2026. You can check it the same way.

Frequently asked questions

Who issues Bahrain work permits?

The Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA). The employer applies; the worker doesn't apply directly.

Is GAMCA medical needed for Bahrain?

Yes. Bahrain is a GCC country, so workers need a GCC-approved medical, booked through the official system.

How much can an agent charge?

No more than Rs 15,000 as a service charge, with a receipt. Government dues are separate.

Should I go on a visit visa and look for work?

No. Working on a visit visa is illegal and leaves you without protection. Go only with an approved work permit and protector registration.
